O evento terá a palestra da Dra. Cinzia Cantacessi (University of Cambridge), com o título: "More than a gut feeling? You are attending a seminar on microbiome interactions during Schistosoma mansoni infection by Dr. Cinzia Cantacessi. To receive a certificate, the participant must attend at least 4 of the 6 pre-symposium activities and fill in the Google form available during the lecture. "Welcome to the opening of this event. Initially, I would like to thank everyone involved in this work. It is part of the activities of the 16th international symposium on schistosomiasis. The symposium should have been held in person last year, but due to the pandemic, it was postponed. However, activities related to the symposium are occurring since last year, in order to avoid a scientific gap. We started with the special topic of the 16th symposium in the Frontiers Jornal's. 41 papers were submitted, 25 of which have already been accepted and the rest are under peer review. For 2021, the pre-symposium activities are scheduled to begin today, in addition to the award for the best thesis and dissertation on schistosomiasis defended between 06/10/2018 to 12/31/2020. Finally, I am pleased to inform you that the in-person edition will be held in 2022 at the same place, the Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, in August. The date will be released soon. Thank you all and have a good event." Roberta Lima Caldeira (President 16th international symposium on schistosomiasis)
