The Vice Presidency of Environment, Health Care and Health Promotion (VPAAPS) assists and coordinates Fiocruz actions in the areas of its expertise, integrating players, technical, scientific and administrative units and offices to respond to the needs of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the Brazilian State.
For making the articulation between the areas of environment, science, technology, innovation, health and economic and social development, VPAAPS relies on the cooperation of institutional partners and social movements to encourage policies that promote sustainable development, increase access to and quality of health care.
Such actions are in line with the agenda of the most recent National Conference on Environmental Health, 2010, and with the principles of Fiocruz, which understands health and healthy environment as fundamental human rights. In this context, VPAAPS was designated as PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for Environment and Public Health.
