Research, education, information and providing reference services in health care are the activities developed by the also called Gonçalo Moniz Research Center (CPqGM). Located in Salvador, is an important Fiocruz unit not only in Bahia, but also throughout the Northeast region.
It operates mainly in the area of scientific research, technological development, and dissemination of health information and training of human resources by undergraduate research, masters and doctorate.

- Stricto sensu graduation programs at master’s and doctorate levels in the biotechnology and medical investigative (PgBMI) and human pathology and experimental (PgPAT) - Biomedical Library.
- Popularization of Science Program.
- Undergraduate Research Program (Proic) and Curricular Training Program (PEC).
- Training and upgrading for the Unified Health System (SUS) and System Science, Technology and Innovation in Health.
- Scientific Sessions on health thematic.
