Published this Monday (1/2) in the Official Gazette of the Union, Ordinance 1.421/2022 designates the executive director of Fiocruz, Mario Moreira, for the position of acting president of the Foundation, in which he should remain until April 2nd. During this period, a new electoral process will be carried out for the Presidency, in view of the appointment of Nísia Trindade Lima as Brazilian Minister of Health [1].
At Fiocruz since 1994, Mario Moreira holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the Federal University of Paraná, with a doctoral internship at the University of Coimbra, in Portugal, a Master's in Public Health from the Sergio Arouca National School of Public Health (Ensp/Fiocruz) and in Technologies and Innovation from the University of Sussex, UK. He is also a specialist in Public Management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas. In 2017, he became vice president of Management and Institutional Development at Fiocruz, a position that became executive director last year.
