Last November, Fiocruz and several UN Agencies promoted the International Consultation on Science, Technology and Innovation in the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda, in Rio de Janeiro.
"Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) in the health sector must incorporate the foundations of social inclusion, the appropriate use of natural resources and the integration of policies to achieve effectiveness in their interventions": that was the balance of the second day of the international consultation promoted by Fiocruz and the UN on ST&I and the 2030 Agenda
The relevant contribution of social technologies was the main subject at the last day of the consultation on ST&I and the 2030 Agenda. The meeting was also marked by the launch of the Ágora Platform, which is part of the Fiocruz's Strategy for the 2030 Agenda, and of the We App Heroes application, developed by Suncious and the Rio+20 Center of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
In 2017, there were more than 275,000 forest fires in the Amazon. But how can fires affect health and increase respiractory diseases? Fiocruz researchers are trying to answer that.
A comission of 15 EU deputies visited Fiocruz last November. On the agenda, the trade agreement between the EU and the Mercosur, the importance of public investment in science and technology, and international cooperation in health, among others.
On article, researchers uphold that "political and health leaders must seize the growing momentum and opportunities to tackle the protracted challenges of access to medicines that undermines efforts to save lives and improve health."
Foundation will support study aiming to provide clinical data and support for registration of a new praziquantel (PZQ) tablet formulation to treat schistosomiasis in preschool-aged children in sub-Saharan Africa
Fiocruz and CDC/China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aiming to develop joint research and technological development projects.
