Scientific cooperation between Fiocruz and China is strengthened

Fiocruz and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC/China) have taken a decisive step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation in Science and Technological Development in Health. The president of Fiocruz, Nisia Trindade Lima, and the General-Director of CDC/China, George Gao, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on November 1st, which aims to jointly develop research and technological development projects, exchange experts and information, technology and materials.

The signing ceremony took place during the first meeting of the subcommittee on health of the Sino-Brazilian High Level Commission for Coordination and Cooperation (Cosban), and was attended by the Brazilian Minister of Health, Ricardo Barros, and the deputy minister of the National Commission of Health and Family Planning of China, Wang Guoqiang, in addition to delegations of the two countries.

The next steps of the cooperation should happen In February, with the signing of a new memorandum. A mission to China by President Nísia and the director of the Center for Technological Development in Health (CDTS/Fiocruz), Carlos Morel, is scheduled.
