Fiocruz Paraná - Carlos Chagas Institute (ICC)


Founded in March 2008, the Carlos Chagas Institute (ICC) had its origin in 1999 with the creation of the Molecular Biology Institute of Paraná (IBMP), the result of a partnership between Fiocruz with the government of that state. Located on the campus of the Technology Institute of Parana (Tecpar), in the industrial city of Curitiba, ICC has an area of 2,800 square meters.

It is a unit focused on research in cell and molecular biology in the area of human health problems and veterinary medicine for the development of biotechnology products and for teaching in biosciences and biotechnology.

Major services
- Assistance in the development of biotechnology products, such as diagnostic reagents, vaccines, antisera and drugs; real-time PCR; certification of transgenics.
- Development of research on pathogens relevant to human health, using modern molecular biology techniques.
- Laboratories for work with stem cells and lentivirus.
- Reference Center for Hantavirus for South Region.
- Teaching stricto sensu graduation course in biosciences and biotechnology.
- Production of reagents kits for laboratory diagnosis.
