Snakebites, Chagas disease, Universal Health Coverage and the 2030 Agenda were among the main themes discussed by Nísia Trindade Lima, who also attended to several bilateral meetings. During the Assembly, the World Chagas Disease Day as established to be celebrated each year on 14 April.
In the occasion, the Foundation’s 120-year Honor Commission, a group of health care specialists which is going to work on the definition of the institution’s agenda for its next anniversary, took up office during a ceremony.
The Embassy is interested in foster the cooperation in health with the Foundation. Short after the visit, genetic researchers and gender equality specialists from both countries have met to discuss their studies.
As it happens with other museums worldwide, the tour is an invitation so that people from Brazil and from abroad can come to know the history of Fiocruz and its major symbol better.
At the website, it's possible to have access to news and the main services offered by COC, in the areas of research, education, heritage, information and communication and dissemination of science.
In just 15 days, a project led by Fiocruz generated 126 complete virus genomes responsible for large outbreaks in the country, including 69 of dengue, 34 of chikungunya and 23 of zika.
Denoted as Xapuri and Aporé, in reference to the remote locations of Acre and Mato Grosso do Sul where they were located, the micro-organisms belong to the mammarenavirus genus of the arenavirus family.
The meeting focused on how to accelerate research, development and innovation so the world can achieve the 2030 Agenda health targets, as part of WHO Global Action Plan.
The event brought together multiple stakeholders to identify and examine the needs and gaps in technology for the implementation of 2030 Agenda.
Launched in English, the book is a critical review of the health policies of the main multilateral agency created after World War II.
